Post subject: Shocked ! fill a grass area with stone!
Posted from: United Kingdom Reply with quote

Those of you not too young may remember that in between Murton Green Road and the playing field was a gully about 4 foot deep where a little stream flowed.

I remember in the winter it was great, we would jump in it from the top of the playing field end (about a 12 foot or more drop) into the mud, and go "mud sliding" down in.

Anyway, I guess "progress" - they've now piped the little stream, and filled in the 4 foot hole so it's level with the roadside verge.... What have they used to fill it in ? STONE CHIPPINGS! And the long grasss is sorta blown over, so you can't see it completely, but as you walk on it, instead of being grass, it's all stone.... DIDN'T THE COUNCIL HAVE ANY EARTH ???????

Those stones let the water drain through them whilst also filling in a trench in the fields, with earth it would have caused it to floode every year causing the field to become a marsh (as it it naturally should be as it is part of Clyne Common) , simple as that Smile

The grass has grown over from the edges - sorta like a bald man growing long hair to cover the bald spot! Laugh Out Loud

so, it's still stoney under foot!

But, the stones are level with the earth!!!

I DEMAND A SESSION WITH MY MP!
