Weird isn't it........ i can't stand the Welsh language, really grates on my nerves to hear it, yet i couldn't leave that word uncorrected once i'd noticed it.

Welsh was always something i never got on with in school, (maybe it was the teachers Sad ), but now if i'm asked where i come from i am proud to say that i am Welsh, I cant speak the language and wouldn't want to...SO is it just me or are there a lot of hypocrites like me out there.

Praise you!
I actually noticed the error straight away - I just wondered how long it would take Dan to correct it.

Dan has an excuse, he's ENGLISH!

But, not only did I notice the error, I could have corrected it without needing to google! yay!

I did welsh in school because we had to do a language, and I hated languages, but I found Welsh easier than French. That was the only reason I did it.. Still I failed my O level ! (got a 'D')

When I went to University, that's when I met lots of English people on a regular basis, and they kept saying "you're welsh! can you speak the language?" (I went to Cardiff University, but most students there were from England)

Until then, we Bishies hid ourselves in our own insular South Gower where Welsh was just an annoyance, but from that point on, I became "proud" and started to pick up a lot of the language.. Far more than I did in school, because I wanted to (I didn't formally learn, I just started remembering stuff, and started watching childrens programmes on S4C!)

I've got a bit rusty again now, but my Welsh is better now than it was at school... I could go into a big rant about the silly way languages are taught in school, but I won't Smile

So, guess it's just you, moley Razz

Your dad only took a class of mine once - I never did a subject of his.

I think it may have been when it was snowing once, and hardly anyone made it in, and we were delegated amongst the staff who made it.

He seemed a reasonable guy.

You always remember the teachers who were tossers and those who were fair, and he fitted into the fair category.

Is he still there ? Moley and I would be going back 18 years now! eeek. It feels like yesterday, but was before you were born!!!

Where's my zimmer....

Laugh Out Loud Nooo he wouldn't!

I was very quiet and unknown! Probably the most often I'd see him is when we were lined up for "Mr Harris, maths" in the next door room, and we were scared shitless of him.

Your dad would certainly remember him! He always used to smoke a pipe (yes, in the corridors!) - the whole of phase 3 always used to smell of pipe smoke!

MR B'S Boy eh?

I remember your Dad well , I used to take three subjects with him, Commerce (C Passed at O level...... Just),
Typing (Cant remember, But still cant type without looking at the keyboard!)
And Accounts ( E,Failed at O level ), Dont know why i ever took that subject, was a waste of my time and his. I hated it! Rolling Eyes

So after all his efforts at teaching me I never used any of the things I was taught, and am a housewife with two kids!

At least if he teaches French now he teaches something useful Big Grin! (only joking Sir! I bet you let him read this)

But I know the girl I used to sit next to in all three subjects works in a bank so you can tell him he did teach someone well, ( oh yes forgot, you'll be reading this wont you, Mr B ) maybe it was more a case of my lack of enthusiasm for school that did it!
